Enjoyed working on this one. This is my 5th paint by numbers and by far the easiest one. Good for beginner. Colors are vibrant and its so cute!

Positives: Very nice painting as a gift. Fun and cute for people who love Totoro. The painting set comes with a rolled up canvas, a smaller reference picture, mini paint pots with number and brushes. All you need is a glass of water for the brushes. The template image of Totoro and friends is gorgeous. The painting canvas itself comes in outlines of the scene with numbers in the center. You just match the number on the section on canvas to the paint pot number.
Negatives: The picture that is posted on Amazon is a little misleading because it looks 3D but it is just image on flat convas that is shipped rolled up. You have to buy the frame. The written description is accurate though. Secondly, while painting the picture, the number on the canvas that correlates with the gray part of Totoro’s body matched up to a green color in the paint pots sent. There was no grey color in the paint kit. So, Totoro’s grey body ( that is seen in the reference picture provided in the kit) ends up being green?? Luckily, using the paint colors that were given, an appropriate shade of grey was mixed by using different colors. Hence the 4 stars. How can a Totoro painting have a green Totoro?
Bottom line: Hours of fun for anyone. Gorgeous painting. Worth the price. Does take a while to ship- be patient (the shipment arrived ahead of the shipping deadline). Also be prepared to not be able to track your shipment. You just know that your order is shipped and then when your order arrives at your doorstep. Finally be wary of mismatched colors.

This painting was one of the best that I have encountered!!! The paints were nice and thick, but not too thick. The canvas was of good quality and absorbed the paint nicely. The whole painting was laid out well, and very easy to follow—never got lost once. The painting looks pretty much like the small picture that came with it. My only complaint is that some of the lighter colors did not cover number/lines very well (typical for most kits). I very much enjoyed painting this one!!! The end result was a very nice painting to hang.

Easy enough for my 7 year old and my 12 year old niece. It was fun and only took about an hour or 2. A couple leaves weren’t numbered, so they just made them whatever color they wanted so it wasn’t a big deal. Fun and nice that it’s already on a framed canvas.

I had ordered a paint by number kit for my daughter. Didn’t realize “high quality” meant it was an unframed canvas. So the search was on for stretcher bars. With the stores closed because of the virus I went to Amazon. It took a while to find one that would work because the picture was a tad smaller than 16 X 20. Got helpful advice from this seller. Shipping was fast. On assembly I ran into a problem. Wouldn’t fit if I followed the instructions, because of the glue strips. I tried a variety of ways. Had to walk away from it because I got frustrated. Then I tried reversing how the directions showed to place glue strips. It worked! I measured multiple times to get it positioned just right then put it together. The canvas reached the sides, but didn’t wrap to the back, so I put a staple every 2 inches as close to the back edge as I could. Then got a tube of black acrylic paint so the small white edge around the picture that shows – and the sides can look like it was designed that way. My daughter was thrilled and she ordered an easel set from Amazon so her daughter could do painting with her!

Pretty easy to assemble kit. Used it to hang a painting my girlfriend made and it worked fantastic. Really nice finish. I would recommend looking up videos on how people get nicer corners when stretching a canvas, The way the instructions says to is a bit finicky and not as good of a corner in my opinion. That being said, the kit works great and when all done makes your canvas look professional on the wall!

Loved it. The directions were clear and it was easy to follow. It’s a really great activity to do and I’ve really enjoyed doing it.
Tips:
1. start with the big areas and work in the intricate parts
2. The map is your friend
3. The light colors are going to need a lot of coats of paint so take your time with those area.
4. The painting calls for black pain in the gray shaded areas. I didn’t have black paint in mine so that is just something to think about.
5. When I did it I did it in sections and that made it easier to organize the painting.

The kit is well put together and had plenty of paint. The canvas arrives folded but I found it easy to get out the creases with a little water and ironing on the wrong side. I like that the lines on the kit aren’t in super dark gray so they are easily covered. The brushes are cheap and a second small brush may be helpful to finish out the project. This was my first project and I enjoyed it. Do I want to display finished products in my home? Not really, but it was so much fun I’ve already bought two more Paint by Number kits.

Flower,The only tricky part for me was mounting the canvas before I started. I had to find the right size stretcher bars (cheap and readily available online) and wrestle with the canvas and a staple gun. But it was worth the trouble, and much cheaper than getting it done by a professional.

Was actually really really pleased with this. I have almost zero painting experience but had a long three day weekend on my own and on a whim ordered this kit. I picked it over others because it came pre-framed (it looks like a bunch of others is just the canvas and then you have to stretch it over a frame – no thank you!) and it comes with an easel which just made me feel more “painterly”. Overall painting experience 10/10. My only quibble was that there were not instructions on how to assemble the easel so I mostly just figured it out after fussing around with it a bit. Fair warning, you’ll need a screw driver.

Absolutely love!,I enjoyed doing this so much, I ordered another one as soon as I finished. The colors are beautiful and I spent hours relaxing and painting. I like layering the paint on thick, and I ran out of #2 paint but I was able to replace it with the other blues. It isn’t an exact match of the original painting and some of the colors are slightly off (the branches are more green in this) but it still came out looking great! I would even consider doing this one again and give it away as a gift. Recommend!

The material is more like an inexpensive canvas and is much bigger than we anticipated. The paints seem to be really good quality and cover the numbers well. This design’s so nice and soothing. The color combination is gorgeous, and there’s plenty of little details to paint that will keep you entertained for hours.
I have amassed quite the collection of paint-by-number kits during the pandemic (I find painting without having to think much, just following the instructions very relaxing) and normally DIY kits are a bit above average quality: the designs are printed on a nice white canvas and the outlines are not too bold, so they can be covered nicely with the paint. The quality of the paints is average (nice colors but the light ones are too thin and you’ll need to apply several layers). The brushes are flimsy: they do the job, but if you plan on doing more than one paint, get yourself a nicer set of miniature brushes. Now, what could be improved: the canvas comes folded, so you’ll have to iron it, and there’s no schematic included, which is annoying because sometimes you need to check back on numbest for sections that have been partially painted.
